Tips for a Successful and Beautiful Brow Tint Result
Posted by Elleebana Store USA on
Getting incredible, perfectly full, and colored brows is easier than it sounds. No need to get creative with pencils and powders or undergo an invasive microblading treatment—your clients can get the brows of their dreams quickly and hassle-free with brow tinting.
Brow tinting is a popular treatment that all salons should offer. If you're new to tinting and need some tips for giving your clients beautiful brow tint results, read through this overview of tinting and how to do it right using Elleebana products.
Understand the Basics of Brow Tinting
During brow tinting, a professional applies special brow dye to a client's brows to alter their color, darkness, and enhance the arches. There are two kinds of dye used for brow tinting—vegetable and henna. Both are naturally derived and safe to use on the skin and delicate brow hairs.
Brow tinting is a popular treatment because it's affordable, quick, and provides long-lasting, breathtaking results. Whether a client wants to make light and sparse brows more prominent or try a new color, a tint can help them achieve their brow goals.
Know Who Can and Can't Get Brow Tints
Almost everyone can get brow tints. Clients who have gray brows, overly light or dark brows, or want to try a new color are the best candidates for this treatment. While brow tinting works on clients of all skin types, skin tones, and hair colors, there are some clients that shouldn't get tints.
Clients who are sensitive or allergic to dyes should avoid this treatment, as it can cause redness, swelling, and other unwanted—and potentially dangerous—symptoms. That said, not all products will cause a reaction. A patch test can confirm whether a product is safe to use on a client. Particularly sensitive clients may want to try henna dye. Allergies to natural henna are very rare, making it safer to use, though clients can still react to any additives.
Clients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or undergoing IVF should also avoid brow tints. The hormone changes the body undergoes in these circumstances can make a person more prone to an allergic reaction.
If neither of the above apply to a client, you can perform a brow tint on them safely and effectively.
Learn How to Correctly Tint Brows
While it takes practice to master, tinting brows is much easier than it sounds. To tint brows using Elleebana's Belmacil tints or Henna Brow tints, follow these steps:
- Perform a patch test prior to treatment. This is essential! Apply a small amount of product behind the ear, in the crook of the elbow, or another undisturbed area. Ask the client to monitor their skin over the next 24-48 hours and report back with any unusual reactions. If the client mentions redness, itchiness, or other symptoms or irritation, do not proceed with the treatment.
- Clean the client's brows thoroughly with Elleebana Make Up Remover.
- Use a spoolie to arrange the hairs neatly.
- To avoid staining the skin, apply a thin layer of Ellee Shield Protective Balm around the brows.
- Time to mix the dye! Combine as needed until you reach the ideal shade.
- Using a 2-1 ratio, mix the dye with the oxidant. 1/2 centimeter of dye with two drops of oxidant is recommended.
- Using the provided applicator brush the activated tint evenly on the brow. Start at the head and move toward the tail. Repeat with the other brow.
- Let the dye process for 5-10 minutes depending on the desired shade and intensity.
- Wipe the dye off the brows.
- Clean around the client’s brows carefully with Elleebana Make Up Remover and a cotton swab to remove any excess dye.
And that's it! In 10 simple steps, you can craft amazingly dark and luscious brows for your clients.
Teach Brow Tint Aftercare to Your Clients
For a successful and beautiful brow tint result, it's imperative that your client heeds proper aftercare instructions. Here's what they should and shouldn't do after their brow tint:
No Touching
Your client should avoid touching or rubbing their brows.
Irritated?
If your client's brows are red or irritated, they can press a cool, damp cloth to the area. If these symptoms persist for more than a day, they should seek medical help immediately.
Avoid Sun Exposure
Excess sun exposure can cause the tint to fade quicker. Wearing hats when outside can limit exposure to UV.
No Moisture
For the first 24 hours after treatment, your client should avoid getting their brows wet. This means no showers, baths, or swimming. They should also limit exercise and keep cool to avoid sweat. Steam can also affect a tint, so advise your client to not use saunas and to be cautious when boiling water when cooking.
No Skin Treatments
Your client should avoid using brow makeup or other facial treatments, especially exfoliating cleansers, for the first 24 hours after treatment. These can cause the tint to prematurely fade. If necessary, they can use a gentle cleanser like Elleebana's Make Up Remover to clean their face.
After 24 hours, they can freely use oil-free makeup and facial products.
When to Return?
Belmacil tints last remarkably long! We recommend a touch up tint service at four weeks. If you used Elleebana Brow Henna, results should last up to two weeks on the skin and up to six on the brow hairs. Once their results start to fade, your client should schedule another treatment after their hair growth cycle if they want to maintain the look.
By following these tips for a successful and beautiful brow tint, you can craft spectacular results for your clients every time. As long as you follow proper application instructions and remind your clients to follow aftercare protocols, they'll leave your salon happy and be able to upkeep their new and glamorous brows at home.
